new skimmer for 220 g display tank
 

Hello Slief, i'm going to upgrade my tank with an 180X80X65 cm 820 liters, about 220 g .
What will be your advice in term of skimmer selection ?
i have some doubt between deluxe 200 or supermarine 200? I want to have a sps dominated tank with moderate fish populations and some lps.

Depending on your fish low, either of those skimmers would be just fine. The SM200 is the better of the two (heavier construction) but typically requires a heavier load & tends to be more suited foe wet skimming. The other skimmer to consider would be the Deluxe 200. That will allow a bit better fine-tuning Due to its design and combination of wedge pipe and telescope tube and can handle a lower or heavier load. It’s also well suited for wet or dry skimming. Of the three skimmers, the Deluxe would be my first choice.

in the case of deluxe 200 which power setting is recommended by you. and which water level in sump.

I would suggest running it between 28-32w. I normally recommend 8.5 - 9” sump depth. Really light loads can require slightly more but the Deluxe is very flexible with sump depths so anywhere from 8.5 - 9” (21.5 cm - 23cm) should be fine.

Is it a loud skimmer in term of drain since the drain tube have to stay over the water surface ... or is it possible to completely put the drain under the water in order to eliminate the drain noise ?

Depending on the speed you run it at, you can submerge the drain but I would recommend having it at an angle so that a little bit of the edge is expose to air to prevent a siphon. And no, it's not really loud as long as the pipe is an an angle. If you fully submerge it, it's possible you will get a siphon which can cause the level inside the skimmer to rise and fall. With the skimmer running the recommended 28-32w, I don't think you will have siphon issues even with it submerged.

Do you think the super marine 200 will be quieter than deluxe 200 in term of drain noise ?

Maybe a little bit but the SM200 will require a heavier load to maintain consistency and will be better suited for wet skimming. You’d need a fairly heavy fish load to keep the SM200 happy.
