High End All in One Nano - Recommendations?

It is has been a few years since I last was in the hobby, and I'd love to get back in with a nano. Looking for something relatively low maintenance, all things considered. My background was a highly customized and custom built 75G aquarium with just about every gadget imaginable (including Zeovit).

To be honest the entire project was a failure, there may have been a few culprits, but the rigors of an ULNS system is behind me and I'm no longer interested. Lots of wasted money and beautiful corals...

So now I am on the hunt for something in the 24" wide x 18" deep All-in-One aquarium that will be able to support SPS. Ideally, and probably realistically, no sump, so it will need to be a built in.

I haven't found anything more complete than the Red Sea Nano Max, but I don't see a lot of reviews about the solution. The biggest concern for me in all of these AIO's is the skimmer and it's effectiveness...I would love to find a niche manufacturer that makes a high end all in one solution, let me know if I've missed anything!

Also, off topic, but is anyone using Siporax on a nano?

I had pretty good success with an Innovative Marine AIO 38G tank. I was actually using the ZEOvit system on it. I had a mini-max reactor with the zeolites in the back chamber and an Aquamaxx HOB skimmer which worked pretty well, much better than other "nano" skimmers I'd tried.

Innovative Marine Lagoon 25

I ran an IM Fusion 20 tank with super success it was just a total gem of a system to work with...the only thing is I had a wrasse jump into the filter system at the back and took me half hour to get the little guy out..that was not fun!!!! lololol but the tank was amazing I swear....

I am going with the Lagoon 25 this time around...just a tad bigger but not significantly really...I know I will love it

I had a AI Prime HD light over the fusion 20 worked like a total dream!!!!!!
I will be using the dual puck more spread Hydra 26 this time around

and YESSSSS the HOB 1.5 from Aquamax is hard to beat for a hang on...
I do prefer the Deltec MCE600 but it wont fit!!! lolol
Best of luck
Use the Chemi Pure Blue Nano in your filtration media basket and you will be golden! :-) Good Luck, Tim

Thanks for the advice. I've heard horror stories about the IM tanks leaking, which is why I never really considered one.

I think the biggest consideration for me is the protein skimmer, as that can cause the greatest amount of headaches in my experience. I used the AquaMaxx HOB on a small tank for a while and ran into microbubbles, which seems to really plauge all of the HOB or AOI tanks.

Glad to hear your success with IM tanks, maybe I will take another look.

alot of crap out there

The new Innovative Marine Tanks are
extremely well made in my opinion...
Mine did not leak thats for sure...
I am buying a 2nd one in 4 months because i sold mine and miss it! lol

The Aquamax HOB 1.5 skimmer I used on the 20 gallon I had zero micro bubble issues....

There were multiple issues with the 1st-gen IM Nuvo 16's with curved front corners, as they were "prone" (i.e. happened more than most were comfortable with) to catastrophic failure (i.e. cracking), but the latest aquariums from IM seem to be quite good. They all have flat front panes and standard silicone corners, and I have not come across any failures in my reading of reviews.

An IM Nuvo 25g "lagoon" (or the larger 50g model) would be something to consider based on your interests. You would also have the option of a laminate stand or coated aluminum - after using the laminate, I would consider the aluminum if I were to buy another.

I would go with one of these three:
Red Sea
Elos
Waterbox

Take a look at the Elos Mini (it's got a sump but it comes with almost everything you need). Alternatively, the new Red Sea tanks look great.
