Bulkhead hole size.
I am about to drill my tank and I have a question on hole size. I have 1" bulkheads and the recommended hole saw size is 45mm. I have 40mm and a 50 mm saw but not a 45 mm. Has anyone drilled for a 1" bulkhead with a 50mm? Is 5mm going to make that much of a difference? Why not use the 50 mm? TIA!

I'd rather have as small holes as possible behind my bulkheads. Less likely to mess something up...
Plus with amazon's cheap stuff and prime you can get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Hotusi-Diamon...+hole+saw+45mm About $10 and no worries. |
Use the size recommended by the manufacture.

Yep..Amazon.....buy one....do it...

5mm is like 3/16". Cant really speak for plumbing through glass, but that seems like a reasonable yet slightly large oversize for a 2" hole.

With an oversized hole your putting more load on the outer thinner edge of the bulkhead making it more likely to fail. Get the proper size drill.
