Fluval Edge Tank?
Has anyone have any feedback on the Fluval Edge tank? I'm thinking of setting one up in my office.

I have the tank and love it. It looks awesome and seems like its built well.
I did freshwater for a few main reasons: 1: The light sucks *** 2: When the tank is full, it is impossible to work in because it will overflow. 3: The allure of this tank is simplicity, and inorder to run a reef in it, it would need alot more flow and I chose to leave out the powerheads and extra equip Id need to run a reef in it. I love it for freshwater though, really cool looking! |
I was looking at one in the LFS the other day. They had it set up with just a few fancy guppies and a little java moss attched to some small rocks. It is a really sharp looking tank.
My thoughts on the tank were exactly what dsn stated. The lights and flow would have to be upgraded for a reef, and the point of the all in one system is to keep things simple. Also, It would be a real pain in the butt to do any in tank maintenance. It would be great for a freshwater tank or a very basic fish only saltwater tank. |
I read some reviews on this tank after seeing it in my LFS. VERY sharp looking tank. It does have over 3watts per gallon, but it seems to be mostly in the middle. That said, I have seen several set up with softies/really low maintenance LPS, and they looked really good. I would think both the flow and the light would be fine for that type of low maintenance corals. I am thinking I may have to pick up on of these myself, so post pics if you get one.

kevan you do know that the top is glass?it never overflowed not once. you dont put your hands in unless your doing a WC.(weekly) if you top off every day it will keep the bubbles down.I DIYed a LED kit it seems to work well. also use a koralia nano for much needed flow. GOOD LUCK

I couldn't help but notice you're in the Denver area too. I've been looking at getting a small tank and have seen the Fluval Edge setups and they are pretty cool. Where did you find a DIY LED kit? And are you using the Hagen filter that came with it? How long has the tank been set up? Keith |
I was looking at one of these yesterday in the LFS.
Tempting! Limey |
If you guys go to the Planted Tank Forum (plantedtank.net or something), there's a pretty good thread going on this tank. There's some good info on modding the lights. I saw someone ask where to get the LED's...they cover that over there.
If it's okay to link it, I'm subscribed to that thread, so I can pull it up pretty easy...mods?? |
That would be helpful.

Thanks Amanda.
I've been looking all over for ideas on upgrading the lights... before I get the tank. Now I just might! I peruse that forum too. Didn't ever think to look there too! |
