My New SPS Reef

Hi Guys,

I´m going to a new setup and will be just for SPS again

I choose something small because is easy to keep and cheaper

The size is 40 x 16 x 18. I already had the layout in my head and my live rock are already ready to go in the main display

http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/4748/aquarioq.jpg

The Setup :

Skimmer Bubble King 180, this skimmer is small , just like my sump

http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/2946/bk1v.jpg

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9290/bk2h.jpg

Easy to clean the neck :

Again I´m going with SunPower ATI, 6 x 39W. You can´t go wrong with this lighting

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/4468/ati1.jpg

For flow, I´m going with 2 x nano tunzes, one 6025 and one 6045 plus the return.

Some stuff that I also bought :

I will use the rk just for time function and control temperature

I think that in a couple of days everthing will be ready and my new reef running.

In this new reef I want something clean, less corals and fishes

Two pictures of my last two tanks....now is just pics , and good memories :

The first one I lost almost everthing for AEFW

The second one, was a nano and I want something bigger now, this nano was cool but is very small and corals like SPS grow out the tank very quickly

Best Regards

Hey dude looks like its gonna be a nice setup. Once you get everything running, please let me know how you like the pro-bio pellets. I just bought a fluidized media reactor and the same brand of pellets. I plan on using them on my new tank once it is set up and has finished its nitrification cycle. Thanks!

What bulbs are you going to run in the T5?

BrooksReef 10/17/2010 12:36 PM

What happened to your beautiful nano? That was quite possibly my favorite nano tank!

Hi, the bulbs will be

3 x ATI Blue Plus
2 x ATI Aquablue Special
1x ATI Purple

In thing this is a good combo for color and grow

Best Regards

The corals was very big for the nano, and I want now to try something new, a new aquacaspe. I hope I can achieve with this new setup a better and natural aquacaspe

Best Regards

Subscribed. I loved your last tank and just know this one is going to be awesome. I am setting up a similar tank myself with these specs:

28L x 20W x 18H tank with starfire front and left side
6x24watt Ati Sunpower - 4x ATI Blue+, 1x ATI Purple plus & 1x ATI Blue Special
Bubble Magus NAC6 Skimmer

I am going for the minimal coral look, but I as my setup will have a really good skimmer and be Vodka dosed, I'm going to have a school of Blue Chromis!

I havent even ordered my tank. Just have the lights so far! Going to order in the next couple of weeks.

byrdman81 10/18/2010 06:41 AM

looking forward to seeing that bulb combo I am leaning that way with mine.

Kevin_Bullis 10/18/2010 08:59 PM

Denadai 10/19/2010 07:40 AM

Also before install the reef, I have to paint the walls of my room :hmm5:

Best Regards

Hi Guys,

Warm up today ! Tomorrow I will get my hands in my display and sump, can´t wait

Today I did the holes in the wall and will fire the ATI to test the bulbs

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2742/img0521m.jpg

This is the sand that I will use, it is a beach sand that I got close to my house

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/7702/areia.jpg

And this is the live rocks, just a couple of them, I want a clean aquacaspe. The live rocks are running for 3 months in this bucket

http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4900/img0523af.jpg

Well, tomorrow I will take some pics of the display

Best Regards

Denadai 10/22/2010 01:42 PM

Is that the actual look of the colour in real life? I ask because I have 4x ATI Blue+, 1x Ati Purple Plus & 1x Ati AquaBlue and the colour looks like about 15K, no way as blue as pictured in that photo.

From my reading around of the 6xsunpower units the 24w unit and 39w units have around the same level of PAR. Our tanks will be similar and I look forward to seeing how they come out. I KNOW your tanks are always beautiful, but at least I can try to replicate your results with similar equipment.

Haksar 10/22/2010 01:58 PM

Subscribed and waiting for action.

Rodrigo_BG 10/22/2010 04:12 PM
