800 gallon reef tank + 250 FOWLR tank
Hi guys!
How are you doing ? Hope doing good, I'm starting my new project and would love to share it with the community and get new ideas from all the members... So the main display will be a 800 gallon reef tank (10.85 ft long X 4 ft wide x 2.60 ft tall) connected to my actual reef which will become a FOWLR tank... which will have it's own sump to run it separately from a the a main a tank just in case. I haven't get the sump measure or design yet. Equipment is already purchased and listed : Skimmer: Deltec 4080TC Return pumps: 3 Ecotech L1 160 Watts uv 6 gyre 250 8 radions xr30 pro gen 4 for the reef I might use 600 pounds of live rock for the main tank and an extra 200 for the second display, 1 inch bed sand and algea scrubber on both systems. Any recommendations guys ? What server do you recommend for uploading the pictures ? The structure is being fabricated at my workshop and would like to upload the progress. |

Good luck on your build, sounds like you've got experience with that 200 gallon tank already running. |

It's driving me crazy haha I had to buy another skimmer as the Deltec will arrive in 45 days and I'm moving in 15 days... I got a reef octpus SRO 9000 from Coral Vue.. amazing service provided by Chris. That skimmer will be used for the shop later on so not that bad to have it. For corals I want to go mixed and try to get the best of each type. Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk |
Looking good! What are your plans for water flow in that beast?

Will use 3 Ecotech L1 for return, 2 mp60 and 2 gyre 250..... I don't know if that's enough but I think so 😋 Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk |
Here is a video by David Saxby about flow that you might like. He's associated with D-D aquariums in the UK and has a gorgeous large tank.
At about 4 minutes in, David shows how to create a closed loop for a large tank without drilling any holes in the tank whatsoever. It is impressive to say the least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sMiFzHYFzE |
