Thoughts on this LTA attachment attempt

Had LTA for a few weeks, and since clown hosted it won't seem to attach happily. Considering trading it for BTA for my rockwork, but I'm trying a last few things. Water params and lighting PAR are all on key for him.

It has its happy spot in the tank, but only sits on the sand. I'm in process of possibly adding a deep sand bed for it, which is on a different thread. This is my end-of-my-rope attachment effort in addition to adding sand.

He loves the front of the tank, dead center. Problem is he hasn't dug in yet, and the clown loves him so much that he flips over at night, especially when closed up.

So, I put the clown in time out in the fuge, turned flow way down, and I used this 4" sch. 30 pvc in the photo below. Vacuumed out sand inside the ring, and placed nem on bare glass. It's been about 14 hours at this point, and I'm curious to see if he grabs the glass before I return home from work.

Any input? Thoughts? I'm open to and appreciate any advice, criticisms, etc., Relative noob and just trying to learn. I love the guy, and would like to keep if possible, but my priority is his health. Clown is somewhat aggressive and loves the nem--maybe too much.

I'm planning on slowly adding sand around him inside the ring if he attaches there, then removing the ring w/ an added deep sand bed.

I also considered trying a small piece of rock on the glass down there, too, for attachment/burying. We'll see how this goes first.

*Apologies for the blurry shot of the clown flipping him--best I had.
Also fun, useful fact: regular sch. 40 pvc from home depot floats. The drainage sch 30 dwv stuff (for sewers/outdoor drainage) stuff sinks.

Nevermind. He tipped over again as soon as I turned the lights off. Removed the ring and buried him in a large sand mound. We shall see.
