Do you have nice aquascaping? if so let's see it..

Having nice corals is one thing, but together with good aquascaping I think is the real challenge. I appreviate the challenge of being able to keep corals survive with great growth and colors.
If yours is something you can be proud of please share your artistic flare!

I am pretty happy with the layout of my 75. It is a mixed tank but lots of SPS as well.

i really like how i've got my 120 layed out. It works for me and thats what matters :D . Thats all thats important, that it is what you want. It seems like everyone has different styles; open, stacked up the back wall, pillars, islands, ect. and thats what looks best to them.

If you want to see good aquascaping check out the Nov TOTM.
Or even better his, Marc's (Fudge) tank build thread, that should give you lots of great ideas.

If you want some ideas that are not as good here's mine. I had a lack of planning and it's just sort of evolved.:(

His setup is very nice but that is not what I would consider nice aquascaping. It is relatively monotonous and looks like it is the ole wall o' rock. Nice corals, great growth, but the aquascaping is just ok.

Good aquascaping involves the juxtaposition of colors and growth forms and, most importantly, balances positive and negative space in the aquarium.

Here are the most recent pics of my 36Lx24Wx18H 60g. It's going to be broken down soon in anticipation of a cross-country move. When I set it up again I'm going to use even less live rock and probably go BB. I think I put too much stuff in it; next time it's going to be more minimal.

Are you sure you looked at the right tank?

Mike de Leon 12/11/2007 08:21 PM

November TOTM is nicely aquascaped. I agree.
Here's another thing. Cleanliness plays a big part as well.

ReeferMonkey, that's a nice set up.
Turn the lights off for three days and see what happens to all that cyano (learned it from a thread here).

Keep them coming!

There should be a contest on this!

Mike de Leon 12/11/2007 08:23 PM

All these tanks are actually quite nice. Some thinking was done here...

Haha Kong I know what you mean. You and I have both been posting the same pictures of our tanks on all the same threads. I just feel dumb now because it feels like I'm slapping that same picture on every thread I go into.

I know what you mean. It has really just grown out in size and is just now starting to swirl on a growth that shot out on the uooer right portion of the cap. I had always wanted it to layer and swirl but so far no luck with that. I have recently upped the flow in the tank to over 50 X turnover so hopefully that will help with the growth pattern. we shall see.

Thanks Mark! Show us your FTS.

mpoletti 12/11/2007 09:18 PM

Surprisingly I don't have one. Plus mine is a crowded rock wall with caves and stuff. I don't want to make these guys mad that I posted it under this thread.
Maybe I'll turn off the lights in the front room in awhile ang try to get you one. What lens do you shoot your FTS with?

Mike de Leon 12/11/2007 09:24 PM

Nice rimless tank!
