history of lunar's reef

1996
I started my reefkeeping, but it's not worth showing :(

1997
I already knew then what I desired and that I would be addicted to SPS corals.

2005
In spite of many problems I was addicted the more and more.
That system ran with HQI, calcium hydroxide reactor, calcreactor, miracle mud.

2006
After moving.
Some corals were fragmented, other, unfortunately, didn't survive.

http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/p..._2008/T_06.jpg

2007
One year without a skimmer. That method came true (thank you Mr Leng Si), but I felt tempt to change something.

2009
In 2008 I started to think about something different and finally I decided to try zeovit. At the beginning I used various zeo products except zeolites. For a year I've ran with full zeo. These pics have been taken recently, two of them today. I think I'll stay longer with this method. It works for me.

This is all my story in brief.

Wow! Very nice tank!! Looks like a future TOTM!

jhawkor 12/11/2009 04:42 PM

Holy huge green slimer Batman. What do you use to maintain Cal, alk, and Mag?

Moser 12/11/2009 04:54 PM

Amazing tank. Congratulations....

Can you post pictures of your sump and equipment/ lighting etc.
What volume of zeo stones do you use and what doses of sulutions?
Which reactor?
Which Skimmer?.

Thanks
Mo

gasman059 12/11/2009 08:49 PM

Thx for sharing

Lots of care and work over the years. Congrats!

Acezwild 12/11/2009 10:19 PM

WOW that system just hit my top 5 favorites list

Logzor 12/11/2009 10:33 PM

Fantastic story. I would like to hear more detail about your system, what issues you have had over the years, and what has kept you in the hobby. It is truly impressive to see someone keeping sps for so long without major tank crashes, giving up, or running out of money!

plyle02 12/11/2009 10:42 PM

Absolutely stunning!
Mind sharing your zeovit program? Your tank represents many reasons why I decided for a full zeovit tank. This tank belongs as a tank of the year!
Well done:)

First of all thanks for all such nice comments.

JazzZero, thanks. It's been the biggest passion in my life so far.

Cjtice, thank you. It would be an honour for me, but it's impossible. My tank is located among DTOTQ tanks in zeo forum.

jhawkor, thanks. My green slimer Batman became really huge. I keep fragmenting it, but it grows very fast. Its upper part is so haevy that the lower one hardly keeps the coral, so it nearly lies on the glass. I'll have to divide it.:worried:
Two part calcium and alkalinity additive system with NaCl free salt. I supplement mg depending on needs, but very rarely

Moser, thanks. I use KZ zeolites, Korallenzucht Magnetic ZeoVit Reactor S, Korallenzucht Revolution M skimmer, ATI powermodule consisting of 8 x 80 W T5 + 1 x 80 W. I've changed combitation of lamps recently - 3 x 80 W fiji KZ, 3 x 80 W white NG KZ, 3 x 80 W blue plus ATI. During replacing my lamps into new ones I introduce some changes in the combination every time.

Misiek, dzięki. If you would like to know something else, ask me, please.
BTW what an original and super avatar

Acezwild, thanks. I'm glad and hope to keep my top position in your list in the future :)

Logzor, thanks for your kind words.
Although I experienced a lot of problems like other aquarists who have been involved with reefkeeping for years, I couldn't give up that. Why? Because I'm as stubborn as a mule and love it. :crazy1:
If you'd like to know more about my current tank, as I see Snaza has already given a link.

Thanks.
I usually dose:zeobac 2 drops twice a week, zeostart2 1 drop in the morning and the same quantity in the evening every day, coral vitalizer 5 drops every other day, AA 2-3 drops every other day, kaliumiodid-fluor 3 drops per week, sponge power 4 drops weekly, xtra 1 ml daily, k-balance when it's necesssary, coral snow 2-3 ml weekly, stylo pocci glow sporadically, zeozym - dropped after a while. These quantities aren't the same all the time. Recently I've purchased Hanna photometers to be able determine levels of NO3 and PO4 more precisely. Since these levels are 0 now, I nearly ceased zeobac and zeostart2 for the time being.

Looks great! I have been a long time fan of your reefs!

lunar 12/12/2009 01:31 PM

Thanks a lot.
I think the same about your tanks that I've been admiring for years. Many aquarists in Poland are also familiar with your exquisite reef tanks.
You really have the knack for that.

Regards,
Krzysztof

Beautiful tank and progression pictures. Thanks

rickb 12/12/2009 03:21 PM

Still no skimmer?

David Jr. 12/12/2009 09:28 PM

Yes, he listed his skimmer earlier. Its a korallenzucht.

Reefer08 12/13/2009 01:31 AM

Absolutely beautiful reef! You deserve TOTM. It shouldn't matter that you DTOTQ in my opinion.

My tank was skimmerless only for one year. I used calcreactor, miracle mud and chaetamorpha then.
