Refugium Lighting

I've seen recommendations for freshwater lighting, reef lighting, and the purple refugium

I'm planning an assortment of macros including mangroves. Suggestions from this group?

If its for display, you'll want broad spectrum daylight (5500-6500K), which matches up with freshwater planted tanks' lighting. If it's hidden away in a sump, those purple ones might be the ticket. From what I've read, they optimized the spectrum just for plant growth. They look hideous and unnatural though, in my opinion.

I read somewhere that the mangroves need "daylight"

Yes, I don't know if mangroves like the purple light or not. I prefer daylight myself, which is why that was my first suggestion in post #2.

Thank you :)

I currently have a cheapo daylight light along with a fuge light over the chaeto

I'm also a connoisseur of cheapo stuff. Do you have a thread for this setup?

I've been meaning to, so I just started one

Cool. I'll check it out.
