Ha... I kinda see it now that you mention it... With the arms flinging up. Yeah I think I'm gonna stay with the layout 2.

I ordered NeoMarine salt along with some other goodies which should be here tomorrow so more updates coming soon.

nava405 09/25/2009 12:41 AM

dang, isn't it too much flow and heat with the mag 12? 'im using 1500gph, thinking to reduce it to 900 gph.

reelfishy 09/25/2009 12:46 AM

Sup Andy... The flow isnt that bad. Maybe due to my poor plumbing job? lol... I got a really good deal on the mag 12 new so I jumped on it... I read up on the eheim 1262 and will most likely change when I get the chance.

cocoaandme 09/25/2009 01:28 AM

Very sweet set up. I like the double sea swirls. Very classy.

reelfishy 09/28/2009 10:14 AM

What happened to the other posts? Anyways... I got water in and the salinity is at a stable 1.024. Need to do param testing when I get home from work.

I made a durso pipe for the overflow but it makes a gurgling noise once every 5 seconds or so. Any suggestions on how to make this go away?

photobret 09/28/2009 12:20 PM

You might want to play with hole size in the top of the durso. It needs to breath and is sucking air, almost like gasping for breath.

reelfishy 09/28/2009 12:43 PM

Yeah I made the smallest hole possible. 1/16". My next project when I get home.

j-soler 09/28/2009 05:00 PM

nice job man love those dimensions

reelfishy 09/28/2009 06:17 PM

Thanks j-soler.

Going to do the param test. Well, just amonia, nitrate, and nitrite... Results in a few minutes.

reelfishy 09/28/2009 06:54 PM

And the results are in...
Amonia .50ppm
Nitrite .50ppm or is it .25ppm you be the judge... cant tell them apart
Nitrate 5.0ppm
Here are some pics with flash

No flash

Thanks Bret, I made the hole bigger and the thing works like a charm now. No flushing or gurgling at all.

About to change the thread name to Dos Equis! LOL actually that sounds good about now. Think Ill have more than one. lol:beer::thumbsup:

reelfishy 09/29/2009 12:25 AM

Is it normal for the skimmer to produce white foam for the first 2 days and not skim anything at all? I was thinking this is normal since there are no live stock in the tank but just wanted to make sure.

s2k 09/29/2009 09:02 AM

Nice tank.

Is it a new skimmer? It usually takes about a week or two to break in plus you dont have much to skim so I think it is normal.

reelfishy 09/29/2009 09:15 AM

Thank S2K, and no its a used skimmer tunze 9005 it was pulling some more foam when i checked this morning. I read the manual and it said to play around with the nozzle to adjust some stuff.. The tunze manuals sucks! They dont know how to explain it very well.

psykokid 09/29/2009 02:40 PM

typical of things that are written in german then translated to english. You should see the workshop manual for my VW Corrado http://www.vortexmediagroup.com/images/banghead.gif
