chelating vinegar

Is there a way to chelate a carbon source for slow-release purposes? E.g. gelatine.. agar.. I was wondering if anyone attempted doing this.

What would be most suitable?

That's what bio-pellets are. Do you want a DIY approach?

Chelating refers to attaching a metal to an organic, technically.

Hi Bertoni, indeed the DIY route. It is to release small amounts of carbon in a low-flow denitrification reactor. Ofcourse I could use a dosing pump, but like to know if it is possible to make a 'carbon pudding' which dissolves in a few days/week.

I think there are formula around for DIY bio-pellets. I'll take a look. This post has some information:

The alginate is interesting "spherification".. I wonder if the bacteria gell balls (e.g.those from fauna marin) are made this way... or maybe agar agar.. thank you.. I fool around with it and see how long it lasts in saltwater..

That sounds like an interesting idea. I'd be careful with the amount in the system, though, and ramp up very slowly.
