Adding a 2nd A. Ocellaris

I have a 300g mixed reef and had a pair of A.Ocellaris clowns for ~9y. I recently lost one...I believe it was the male. My understanding is that the one still left will be female either way. So, what is the best way to add a male? In other words, I want to make sure that it has not morphed into a female. I always QT everything so from the time I purchase it to the time it goes into my DT will be 4-6 weeks. I am assuming that I would need to purchase a juvenile? And, how do I know it is a juvenile. Finally, will the old clownfish pair up? Or is she just too old?

Lets start by saying that im not a professional by any means.

The best thing to do in my opinion is get a fish that is smaller than your fish to begin with, ideally it would be a juvenile and in a group/ part of a batch where all fish are about the same size.

There is no guarantee that any two clowns will pair up,if it were to occur it would happen just like it did the first time most likely, but you better your chances by following the above two guide lines.

I know that clown fish are bred where they can be of different variants of the same species but i dont know if that has much to do in terms of easier pairing of the same exact kind.

Best of luck.

Get a small half inches one, and put it in the tank and watch... 300g tank would be big enough for them to pair.

How did your 9 yrs old one die? It just dead one day or been not eating and sick etc...

Became shy during feeding time and wouldn't eat. Eventually, got really thin and died over the course of a month or more.
