If i was to leave a christmas favia on my sand bed how would it go about growing, i know if its on rock it will make a thin calcium rock to spread its tissue on, Would it grow fast on my sand or would it spend alot of time trying to make a thick rock?

Rob, was that favia your find? It sure is sweet!

roblack 08/04/2009 08:24 AM

Deep top down shot under leds. This coral looks completely different under blue light. Unfortunately the camera just does not do justice and cannot pic up all the highlights very well. Check out the green leading edge.

I am the most recent finder Kev, and have the whole colony. Clint at Diamonds found it before me, and not sure about before that. Will see about getting more history on it. Have been getting into favias lately, have always loved them, and was lucky enough to get this one. Got another cool different one, entire colony that will be posting pic of soon.

wishntoboutside 08/04/2009 09:49 AM

Nismo's Flamethrower Favia/Favites in middle, coolest War Coral I have seen. Golden centers hard to capture, this thing glows.

That sunburst anthias looks HUGE in the background

roblack 08/04/2009 12:11 PM

OAR, U should see my Borbonius then.

A little Diversity is good for the reef.

roblack 08/04/2009 04:31 PM

I want to see that orange rim beaming!!! You will have a frag, going to cut you an extra tiny lil nub for your piconano, LOL!

Little added info on the MFLF. It is from Sulawesi and was collected at about 40 feet deep.

123000 Views and only 17 posts? I would think thats a record

Sheol 08/04/2009 05:30 PM

LOL That's because this is a new split, the thread is 2 years old almost!
Nismo_32: Please, please lets see that shot.
Rob: Ditto, though I see plenty of blue in it.

Yeah Matt and you've been on board since day one!

I wanna Thank You for keeping this thread going because I've noticed over these 2 years that you have resurrected it on more than one occasion! :)

Fitchguy 08/05/2009 10:46 AM

Didn't see the split! LOL I was thinking, man maybe I should buy up all the Favia I can because they are obviously getting RARE!! LOL

roblack 08/05/2009 10:48 AM

Check out this crazy new favia. Now and Later Favia? Grape centers and psychadelic green and turquoise patterns with some orange hues starting up. The texture is other worldly. I like this one a lot!
