Help to identify
Hi,
My clownfish has started to showing cottony growth on its body. As of now it is active and do not show any sign of discomfort. I would like to understand the possible cause and treatment I should follow.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...935efebd39.jpg Sent from my ASUS_X00TD using Tapatalk |
I would guess lymph. Caused by stress typically, can also be caused by poor water quality. There isn't a surefire treatment. Its suggested to feed vitamin enriched food and reduce/eliminate the stressor. It can take months to go away. I have one disease book that says visine has been shown to help in extreme cases. I will have to look at the book to figure out if they give any guidance on using visine. I had a Emperor angelfish years ago that had it and it took almost 3 months to go away

Lymphocystis, a generally not lethal virus infection. It is usually promoted by a compromised immune system due to bad water quality or treatments with immunosuppressant medications like copper. These days copper treatment is actually the most common cause.
In most cases it will go away by itself without further measures once the fish is out of the copper treatment. Though it may take up to a few weeks and in some cases it first gets worse before it gets better. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |
