SPS dip
What does you use to dip your new sps frags?
|
Though I don't have any SPS, yet, the most common dip I see used/recommended is "Revive" by Two Little Fishes.

Lugols here

Lugols x2

Anything I get I dip in Interceptor followed by Revive. Any frags I've lost weren't due to dips and usually were on their way out when I started dipping them. Keep an eye on them and QT!

I use lugols as well but I was never really sure why. Does it kill parasites etc?

Interceptor is a 6 hour dip in a 5 gallon bucket that I have just for this purpose. I know that I'll have frags ahead of time so its usually already set up. I use water from a recent waterchange for this purpose to give the frag a chance to acclimate to my water's parameters.
After dripping into the bucket, I mix in a pinch of interceptor, and wait. After 6 hours, I was the frag in new tank water (pulled out of the tank of course). I'll have another small container of new water handy and I add my revive to that water to the strength perscribed on the bottle. I usually only dip for about 15 minutes in revive, usually shorter depending on how stressed the frag looks at this point. Wash it with tank water and into QT it goes. |
Revive. I've also heard great things about Tropic Marin dip

Ive been dipping with Coralrx. It's a great new dipping alternative that makes minimal impact to the coral and minimal stress.
