MarineDepot

On 03/13/2012 MarineDepot.com sold me a Red Sea Iodine Test kit for full price of $34.99. The expiration date on the test kit is Nov 2012 which I only have a few months to use. I asked for discount on the item since I can only use it for a few months. They rejected my request. This is ridiculous... Be aware.

Thank you for your post, Thinh. We are contacting you directly to offer you a partial refund.

Looks like the title of your post is a bold face lie. Not cool!

Good for MD for trying to make it right, although I'm not sure they should.

zigzag1 03/23/2012 12:29 PM

yea, stretching the truth too far. Shouldn't have to complain on a public forum to get results though... poopoo on both, i say!!!

feel free to dispute if not how it really happened MD...

I don't know how long test kits are supposed to last for, but 8 months.... That sounds reasonable to me.(then again i might test more then normal people do) Your title made it seem like the test kit you received was dated Nov 2011, in which case you have a good reason to post, but seeing as you have 1 post i'm thinking this might just be a bs post.

USC-fan 03/23/2012 12:59 PM

I would be upset too... but sad thing is im still using test kit that expired in 2010....

jcw 03/23/2012 01:39 PM

It's not expired but it's far from new. I got a salifert from socalfish that was to expire in about a year but i used it up in less than that. But, yes, it was a little annoying when you have kits that expire in 3 years then get one that expires in months.

I wonder what the routine practice is for vendors?

The test kit had 9 months on it, not a few and not expired. I am pretty sure that come November, the test kit is not going to be useless, you have several months afterwards to use it. All the test kits I have used months after the expiraation held consistent readings.

Agreed. This is Bs.

Are you kidding me, OP? You deserve no refund of any kind as far as I am concerned.

HV1990 03/29/2012 01:28 PM

Nothing but good experiences from MD. I find this hard to believe that they did anything wrong.

EricSIny 03/29/2012 01:48 PM

MD has always provided me with over the top customer service, one time they dropped the ball and sent me the wrong rodi unit and not only did they send me out a brand new right away but also upgraded my shipping to 2day air so i could have it before the weekend

..what should i "be aware" of exactly? that some products have a shelf life? i really hope MD didnt refund his money

GeorgeMonnatJr 03/29/2012 02:00 PM

I'm still new to the hobby and only ordered a few things from MD, but their web site was great for navigating, comparing and purchasing and they lived up to their promises. I like them so far.

motortrendz 03/29/2012 02:34 PM

i have spend alot of money with MD in the last month ive spent almost 600$, i bought a bunch of zeo based products and the kit was on back order for what said 2-3 days became 2 weeks, i finally called to see what could be done and they said that if they broke the kit up into seperate pieces they had everything but the computer wouldnt do it on its own.. they then told me that one of the main products were not available but was in the larger size.. the gave me the larger size for the same price offered me a discount and gave me faster shipping to make up for the delay.. i think they are a very organized company with exceptional customer service.. and just the fact that they offered the OP a discount when they rightfully didnt need to shows their character! well done!

kissman 04/14/2012 04:06 PM

Love Mariendepot use them alot, never had any problems with any products always fast to help with questions!

TimothyJ 04/19/2012 11:26 PM

OP joined RC to make a stretch of a claim. MD has been top-notch in every way possible. Someone must have been bored at their computer.

desert's ocean 04/20/2012 12:10 AM

I hope Thinh, you'll stay in the hobby longer than the expiration date on your test kit.

redneckgearhead 04/20/2012 04:29 AM

Odd he hasn't made another post?

A. Henin 04/24/2012 02:47 PM

I also would support MD in this. Thinh, You should be O.K. with this test kit. If you do what you are suppose to do, you will finish it before it is expired.
Way to go MarineDepot! What a class act!
