Got me another mantis.

Asked for a peacock, this is what i got. Its 3 and half inch long. All green. Is this a regional thing its all green? Or a different species all together. I thought it would of been like the all colourful mantis usually see. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ce2c7d3ae8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9a7f9f74bf.jpg

I don’t think it’s a peacock... unless you can tell that there are spots near his eyes

If you could get a photo with white light, that would help with identification

But for now i would guess it is a Gonodactylaceus ternatensis.

Does he look like the one in this thread?

Hmm it does seem it could be ternatensis, judging by the female description, will let it settle for the week then will try get some pics. Thank you all for your help.
So just to clarify it 100% not a peacock?

I would guess tern as well

That is a male Gonodactylus chiragra.

It's a very common situation for a provider to pass off any other mantis species as a Peacock. Mantis shrimp are a very poorly understood species in the aquarium hobby despite their growing popularity as a pet.

Duh duh... Duh duh... Duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh!!!!

The mighty chiragra!!!!

Chiragras seem to be the most common :/

Looks like he might have a bit of shell rot unfortunately. Still a cool mantis and you might be able to treat it by keeping the lights out, increasing feedings, and soaking frozen food in Selcon for him. My old G. chiragra was starting to get shell rot too before he died.

What frozen did you feed yours.

Mostly krill and brine shrimp but you can go with mussels or shrimp, etc.
