Hahn

Great job. :smokin:

10" Red Devil 06/22/2006 11:33 PM

Has anyone done this to a AquaClear 201?

Thanks.

trmiv 06/22/2006 11:42 PM

Well I tried the new impeller build method, and managed to jack up my impeller in the process. I guess I need to order some more impellers. With my track record, I'll be up to the cost of a Seio 2600 by the time I'm done with this thing.

hahnmeister 06/22/2006 11:48 PM

Thanks guys. Im just glad that I have perfected the shroud making finally.

dhnguyen 06/22/2006 11:50 PM

Sheesh.... Looks like another split to the thread.

BTW... Nice jig Hahn. :)

Snarkys 06/23/2006 12:23 AM

so i was messing with the ceramic tube today and i just don't think it will work for this . the inside diameter of the magnets varies a lot and the ceramic tube is not forgiving at all . neither the CB or SS rod fits well inside it.

that jig is slick : )

vishboy 06/23/2006 11:05 AM

How far down from the top should the stopper be?

trmiv 06/23/2006 12:25 PM

Well I got mine done. I messed up though, I glued the end cap on the shroud. Oops. Makes it a bit tough to get the big impeller out. Seems to work OK. I think my rigid airline was a little too big, so it makes a little bit of noise, not bad though. I also messed up the stopper at first, and instead of turning the prop back the other way, it just glanced off and kept spinning backwards. So I removed that stopper and drill a new hole for another one and got it working. Now I just need to get a magnet to mount this thing to.

frezel 06/23/2006 01:58 PM

Congrats on yet another split, what was that the 5th one?

i try and have mine touching or almost touching the top so like 1/8" down

trmiv 06/24/2006 02:23 AM

Just how tight should the rigid airline be on the SS rod? I think mine is a little too loose. It doesn't make much noise, but I'm worried it might when it wears out some.

Snarkys 06/24/2006 02:02 PM

OK so after breaking all the impellers apart i'm convinced that the 900 and 1200 impeller magnets are the same and the only difference is the black or white prop that comes with them.

this may be handy info for anyone like myself that had a handful of impellers around and you lost track of which is which : )

dhnguyen 06/24/2006 02:19 PM

Not exactly the same Snarkys. The magnets are the exact same size and dimension for all MJ models but IME the MJ1200 magnets are slightly stronger than the MJ900 ones.

D.

Snarkys 06/24/2006 04:00 PM

I think I will just email them and ask ; )

I got a mess of them around now and have lost track......

This must be the longest thread on RC. :eek1:

frezel 06/25/2006 06:27 PM

yeah it just runs in circles, with the same old questions, someone needs to just put up one page sheet of all the costs materials, what props for what MJ and what kind of power to expect etc and finally put an end to it lol.

ostrow 06/25/2006 07:20 PM

You can mod the maxi-jet?

headdead 06/25/2006 07:27 PM

your avatar is disgustin

frezel, you hit it on the nose - which is what I want to do to that stupid avitar with the kid pickiin it. Sure would be nice not to have to read 2 hours of drivel to get to the meat of what is actually a great diy.

ostrow 06/25/2006 07:33 PM

I sure hope everyone who posts in this thread takes a deep breath right now and ignores that flame from someone new to RC. Let silence be the powerful response, and prevent this incredibly useful thread from running into trouble.

headdead 06/25/2006 07:38 PM

ostrow, you are right and I apologize.

hahnmeister 06/25/2006 11:11 PM

he is right about the kid pickin' the nose...I let dhnguyen know I was tired of it long ago...lol.

Kluver 06/26/2006 01:35 AM

Excuse me for being behind the 8-ball, but this is the first time I saw this thread. Compared this Mod to the Seio 1100, how is this different? Is this mod compare to that of the Tunze as far as performace at a fraction of the price?

Again, pls excuse my ignorance. For someone who must start out from scratch (buying the MJ and the parts), how is modification as far as price and performace wise compare to me just buying the Seio? Or is this as good as the Tunze?

trmiv 06/26/2006 01:39 AM

kluver, Just an example, I just modded a maxijet 1200 with the dumas 3004 prop. It's about the size of a Seio 820 when finished, but blows my seio 8200 away in terms of flow. It's easily putting out more than double of the flow of the 820 I have. It's actually too much to have on on the time for me, I should have used a smaller prop.

v8maro 06/26/2006 08:36 AM

i forgot, can I use 2 of these on a wavemaker?
