Cabinet hole size
Hi guys, just ordered a cabinet to start my journey. I'm planning to use 2 x 1 inch pipe and 1 x 1/2 inch pipe for the out flow and inflow.
How big is the hole i need to make? Is 3.1 inch x 9.9 inch enough? |
Your question as stated is very confusing/lacking details..
Here is a table of pvc dimensions https://www.pvcfittingsonline.com/re...18-through-24/ That hopefully allows you to answer your own question |
Note too, when dealing with pipes and hoses, there are TWO measurements, and you need to be aware which one the other guy is talking about: there is the inside measurement (how wide is the water passage) and the outside measurement (how wide is the pipe/hose itself.) Your outer measurement will affect the size of the hole you need to get it through the cabinet (make it a little loose), while the inside measurement may dictate what size nipple on the pump the hose can fit over, during setup.

I'm a fan of making whatever holes I need generously oversized. That will allow plenty of wiggle room for the pvc/elbows and any cords you'll be fishing through there as well.
When I built the stand for my 120, I solved the problem by leaving the top 8" on the back of the stand completely open. No worries that way. The plumbing can go wherever it needs to and I can easily route electrical cords as well. |
