I generally keep several pairs of different genera together in one tank. Key is that they get along well enough.
I usually have a pair of anemonefish with a pair of damselfish, dottybacks, or marine betta, but gobies or dartfish should be fine as well.
The tricky part is to get the eggs out without causing too much of a disruption.
