Leaks happen. They just do. Hoses can come off. Skimmers overflow. splashes and drips happen.
All you can do is minimize the risks. On of the easy ways is to do as I suggested and place the sump down between the bottom perimeter boards as I suggested.
And the Stone veneer will look nice! Pictures when it's done please!
