I have a 90 G reef with a 20 gal refugium below. I bought the whole tank as a fish tank but I made it in to a coral. I added

This is what it was but I took out off the socks and the skimmer and made the middle section a chaeto refugium and the water levels seem perfect.... However. I could not get ZOA's to grow and some not even live so I rented a par and found my lighting was far too low. So I raised my par to 400 surface 80 bottom and now EVERYTHING is growing great. Problem now is my tank is getting brown dust everywhere and my chaeto (which is supported by a kessil 80 ) is growing and also getting a light brown mush on the surface and spreading all in my refuge and return chamber.
I shortened the light time but wondered if I should try to add a separate tank for the chaeto so it doesnt drop in to my return chamber.
Thanks
