I'm not sure what people recommend now due to the use of various products and the live rock itself varies in porosity so different rocks will be better than others but typically you would go with anywhere from 1-2 lbs per gallon of water. So that would be 8-16 kg of live rock total for an 18 gallon tank.
You also want ample water flow around and through the rock.
