Yeah, every LFS I've visited has had rock that honestly looked like they took dry base rock and left it in the tank for a few weeks. Of course if people want to start a tank that way, thats totally fine, but just buy the dry rock yourself!

Calling wet base rock "live rock" is dishonest IMO. Live rock has stuff growing on it - coralline algae, macroalgae, sponges - and stuff living inside it -- crabs, amphipods, worms. I have never found real live rock for sale at a LFS. Only wet base rock.
