The logistics of trying to sync an overflow on EACH end of the tank is not likely worth the trouble. Produce good surface flow and the single 24" overflow will likely be fine. Use one end to feed the closed loops if you like.

By external overflow, I mean an external overflow box with the standpipes in it. In your case, you could feed the box with a very narrow internal weir that simply connects to the external box via a slot or a few holes. There are some examples in the original 40 pages of this thread....
