Any clean combustion of gas (blue flame) should emit mostly CO2>CO I believe. Not only will burning those fuels create additional CO2 in the house but they will also use up available oxygen.

Here's the simplified equation: burning one unit of methane (CH4) uses up 2 oxygen to produce one CO2.

CH4 + 2(O2) ----> CO2 + 2(H2O) + energy/heat

Moving the skimmer intake to outside fresh air is a good idea in general. For many of us it's just not practical.
