bump for the new folks. these are some of the little creatures that need time to move in the neighborhood and start interacting. Initially we call this cycling that establishes the early form of your biological filter that converts waster ammonia into nitrites and then nitrates.

So much more is going on at the microscopic level as these critters populate and morph seeking a balance. This is part of what is meant by giving the tank time to mature when battling unwanted algae.

Hopefully the video will inspire you to drop in some of the other threads that discuss and explore the methods experienced hobbyists use to encourage the microscopic life as part of a healthy tank
