snails and hermits should be okay. should. some mantids can manage to actually pull an unfortunate snail or hermit out of the shell without having to crack the shell. I dont think they do this often though, especially if they are well fed. note that crabs are toast with a spearer because they have a vulnerable soft belly.
FW feeder fish you mean? dont feed those too often. they're probably not very nutritional. If a mantis is offered a dead easy meal vs. a live struggling fish that needs to be hunted down, it will go for the easy meal. starve the mantis for a few days then throw the fish in. odds are it will be hungry enough by then.
