I have always used the bubble wands, no idea why, just have. Maybe in my head because they are larger they oxygenate the water better? I don't know. The ones I get you can completely take apart and let them dry out. They are so thin they dry out pretty quick with no ends on them. yes as we all know suction cups suck after a while, so placing the bubble wand in a piece of 3/4 pipe would hold it to the bottom. great idea!

I totally understand where your coming from with throwing everything away, and I probably should be doing it that way, but I have yet to have a problem(knock on wood lol).
