I think you’re going to be hard pressed getting dry salt into that pipe. It’s gong to be moist in that pipe and as soon as you start pouring it in and salt touches the inside of that pipe, it’s going to stick to the sides, clump and clog it up. If it were me, I would move the blue barrel backwards or to one side or the other just enough to remove the lid and pour the salt in. If it was offset from the upper tank a few inches instead of directly below it, that would solve the issue. Regarding the use of 1” PVC, that’s what I would have run so I think you made a good choice there.
