That's a tough question. In practice, I would run RO/DI, and make sure that the TDS was zero. There are a number of possible toxic contaminants in spring water, and it's not practical to test for them all, price-wise. Also, run-off might vary during the year, which could lead to varying parameters in the spring, depending on how it's fed.
