You are correct, they are not. Clownfish eggs are very recognizable when you see them. They look like a orange (or silver) mass on the surface of wherever they choose to lay. You can see the individual eggs and when they develop can even make out the eyes. Pretty cool! Wait long enough and your pair will probably start to spawn!
