Lighting for orange finger gorgonia

Lfs says I can't give it too much light but I'm doubting that. I think I have the right flow, med- high but not directly blasting it. It's placed in the upper third of tank under a tank brace( probably doesn't affect shading much) and under a single T5 bulb 12 inches up and offset from kessil 360s on low. I read they like low light, does it sound like I should lower it? Also, polyps were fully extended when I turned light on this morning but have receded. Do they just extend in low light to feed?
