FOWLR 36g corner

im thinking of getting into a SW tank, i've never had one just FW. i just got a 36g corner tank and thought it might make a good FOWLR tank. im not very familiar with SW fish, just starting to get into them so what would you guys recommend? im don't think i want an aggressive tank, maybe 3-4 fish with about 60lb of LR.

I would start by buying a book on how to maintain a saltwater tank. That way you can always refer to it for obstacles that come up. Ask a lot of questions on the forums. I have found for the most part the information that the guy at the fish store tells you is wrong, better to ask the forum or read a book.

Forget the forum, every one believes something different on here. Just get a book that will help you the most.

Generally you will get good advice here. There are some people that will tell you that you can keep a nurse shark in a 34 gallon corner tank but overall this is a very good place to get information, especially if you are a newbie.

this site is definitely a great resource. I spent probably a year of reading a little bit every day while saving pennies to get into the hobby. Just read everyones opinions use the methods that make the most sense to you.

"The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists" by Robert M. Fenner is probably the best investment available to get immersed into the SW aquarium hobby. Although I have not read it yet, some advanced aquarists are also recommending "The New Marine Aquarium: Step by Step Setup and Stocking Guide" by Michael D. Paletta et al. For helping decide on which fish and their compatibility to other livestock, "What Fish? A Buyers Guide to Marine Fish" by Tristan Lougher is very valuable for it's guidance on fish behavior and how others react to them.

Using the search function in this forum is invaluable to me, just take all info with a grain of salt, until you learn enough to id the good stuff. Finally, there are two great free magazines online, one you can get directly from this forum http://reefkeeping.com/joomla/index.php and another one here: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/. Both have search engines that can answer most any question you can have. The most important piece of advice can give you is to have patience with your tank and enjoy the little things happening in it. Welcome to the hobby!
