Best Skimmer for 70 Gallon Tank
Just like the title states, I'm looking for the best skimmer for a 60 to 70ish gallon tank including sump. It will be SPS dominated. The sump will be built with a center section which will be used as my frag tank. I would like to spend $300 or less so I have more cash for coral. Thanks

I use an AquaC EV-180 on my 65, it is a bit overkill and you could probably get away fine with the 120. I got mine used and was a great price for what you get from it.

I use a Vertex IN-80 on my 55 reef. Costs about $180.00 Great skimmer, it's rated 40-80 gallons. If you want a little bigger, get the IN-100 for about $200.00 Call Jeremy at Premium Aquatics, he'll help you.
Good luck!

I'm happy with my multi-ATB skimmer.

Bubble Magus BM100. Did the mesh wheel mod and produces very dark skimmate for 4 small fish, 120lbs of rock, 90lbs sand in a 90 gallon

Ok, so the more I plan out the tank, I've decided to do a skimmer that hangs on the outside of the sump. It takes up too much useable space in the sump which I'm wanting to use for a frag tank as well, so I've decided to do a hang on skimmer for the sump. So, basically the same question. What would be the best skimmer for this application.

I just fired up an Octopus Extremem 160 with transition neck on my new 100G tank. Replaced the stock Sicce pump with Tunze 9420 (similar pump), and I'm very happy so far with the results. What I like about this skimmer is the small footprint with the pump under the skimmer body.

I just picked up a Euro Reef RS 135 for my ~60 tank. It works well and is easy to dial in. I recommend this skimmer. I think they are a little over $300.

What does everyone think of the tunze 9005? It has a small footprint I could fit in my sump. Thanks

For a hot for a 60g here's what i'd suggest. MCE600, WMhot2, SWC extreme. Anything less than that i would get an in sump skimmer. The vertex 100, bmNA6, SWC/MSX160. Your better off with an in sump skimmer imo.

I don't think much for the 9005 either. I'd take any of the above over it.
