Thanks. No worries, I have a good idea where most of my pictures are located, so it usually doesn't take very long to locate a specific picture.

Has the red turf algae been eradicated from the tank? What about the green hair type algae?

I'm so pumped right now! The tank looks phenomenal! I cannot believe the progress a lot of the corals made in just 2 weeks. The Maroon Turf Algae is gone... there are some negatives though. I have some maintenance to do, then pics!

I was so nervous about being gone for so long... this really made my week.

OK, sir, you must tell me know you got rid of the maroon turf algae!

I did read your very looooooooooong thread using bacteria and lo nutrient system to get rid of the maroon algae, but near the end (as I last read it), you were going to upgrade the tank?

So I am a little lost here...would appreciate if you could take the time to spell out for me exactly how you got rid of it. I had some of it on rocks I am cooking...but they are cooking still so I am not sure if they are completely eradicated. As soon as I put the rocks into the tank, I want to hit the algae with all measures to make sure its gotten rid of completely.

It is mandatory that you do post LOTS OF PICS.

I know you got lots of tank maintenance to do, but we need pics. Wierd as this may sound, I really felt for you when yo were going through that long thread about the algae-especially as you have such a beautiful tank. So we need to enjoy the tank too.

I should state... I did a thorough inspection of the tank, and I do have a few small patches here and there, but barely any at all is left. Honestly, I think the Eibli Mimic Tang, Mexican Turbo Snails, Longspine Urchin, and maybe the Sea Hare took care of it. It really didn't seem as if the Vodka dosing was making a significant impact on it.

Pics will be coming soon... just waiting for the water to clear up.

Yeah, the tank can pretty much run itself on autopilot (minus bacteria/carbon additives and feedings) for around 10-12 days... basically until the ATO reservoir exhausts. My 13yr old sister takes care of the maintenance, feedings and dosing in my absence. I have to say that I am extremely impressed with how well she runs the tank when I am gone. I laugh everytime that I think... "She's 13yrs old and basically successfully running and carbon dosing an SPS reef tank."

The Drew's Dosing pumps really eased my concerns over leaving the tank for extended periods of time, as it keeps my ca, alk and mag locked in. I also can check in on some of the tank statistics over the internet via my aquacontroller 3, but she's good about calling me any time she has a question or notices something out of the ordinary.

I also have this checklist for her.

Your sister is amazing WOW 13 years old can do what I can not

My LFS man left the tank for 3 weeks and he said that the fish eats pugs and micro stuff from the tank. As you said that the dozen is one of the most important things.

Thanks for the information.

Do you still have your 90gal tank pics because I want to see them if you can post them please.

No problem. I'll try and dig some pics up.

Eh... it's nothing to get too worked up over. I've seen way worse. It seems to primarily be clustered on the 3 rocks in the lower right corner that were added "new" from the LFS. Those rocks have been the main cause of all my algae issues.

I can't add a foxfaxe due to the fact I just don't trust rabbitfish around LPS, SPS or Polyps... heard too many horror stories to even think of testing my luck.

Looks great Tswifty. Maybe a mithrax crab will eat the valonia?

Thanks. I have 1 in the tank now, and have tried as many as 3. However, I always seem to end up with 1 after only a few days.

The one "nice" (really struggling to type that word) thing with bubble algae is that you can make a serious dent in it, in just an hour or so manually removing it. I've had it in this tank the entire time, and it's came and gone in waves. So I'm going to be making some minor adjustments over the next few weeks to see if I can get it on the run again. I made like 3 changes before I left (which was dumb), so now it's going to take a little longer to address what caused the bloom. I'll be modifying 1 variable at a time (starting with my increased feedings) until it subsides... or at least gets back to acceptable standards.

Thanks Mitchell, I'll probably go in and just peel it away with my hands. It'll take about an hour or so, but will look a lot better once it's done. I'll probably do it tomorrow afternoon since the Steelers don't play until Monday night.

I need to test the water parameters here in a little, it's been quite some time since I've actually charted my test (back in September). Of course I've tested the tank periodically within that time period, but didn't chart the results.

Some negatives on the current state of the tank... The Mystery Wrasse has been missing for the past 2 days. Haven't found it anywhere on the floor, so hopefully it's just in hiding, and I haven't lost it. Also, I spent some time today nuking a few aiptasia that have begun popping up here and there in the tank (on the newer rock). I'm still using Red Sea's Aiptasia X.

With all the issues I have gone through trying to get this rock to establish, I'm am officially done using "wet" live rock on any of my tanks. From now on, any tank I set up will be set up with "dry" rock similar to the stuff you can buy from Bulk Reef Supply or Marco Rock.

Those clams are looking amazing man! To get one that blue in Australia would be about US$250 ...

I hope the wrasse is just hiding too!

I totally agree with you on the rock front, but it wasn't my original live rock that cause the issues, my bryopsis and aptasia were bought in on rock a coral was attached too ... I checked them over but the aptasia must have been in hiding and the bryopsis I just didn't see ...

Thanks. I'm very happy with how everything in the tank is starting to look. Even the clams look like they have colored up more over the past few weeks.
