When I go into a LFS I trust that they know what is what and have it priced accordingly. The OP's questions were valid...would you pay ORA Plum Crazy price and take home a generic stag frag? Especially when he posted it and everyone is telling him it's not what it was advertised at the store...he wanted to know if he needed to go back to the LFS and raise hell and get some $$ back.

I am with the original poster on this one too. Why would anybody pay way more for something that you could buy the exact same thing down the street for much less? There is nothing "LOL" about asking if you got duped. Luckily this wasn't the case with the OP and you were not duped. But without researching it out before hand, how would he know that the real Plum Crazy doesn't sell for $35 a few miles down the road(and the real purple plasma for $69), meanwhile he just paid $69 for a $35 item....if that was the case, he would have been duped, especially considering it was sold under the wrong name. For somebody to call your question "ridiculous," that is ridiculous. And its not "subjective," these things have a list price.
Anyway, enough rambling from me, nice coral. Are the polyps still retracted? If so, what kind of light/flow did you start it out under?

If I was looking specifically for Purple Plasma and I was sold Plum Crazy I would be upset.

However, if I bought a frag because I really liked it, was told it was Purple Plasma but it turned out to be Plum Crazy then I wouldn't really care. But I would appreciate a positive ID on lineage for frag selling/trading.

When I bought my Pearlberry it could have been called Dog (Poop)* coral and I would have still bought it!

*insert profanity

The lights arent on yet thismorning so we'll see if the polyps come out today. Ive got a lot of light. My tank is a 50g breeder and I am running a 400w radium and 78w t5. My flow is 2 koralia 3s and a return pumping about 500gph.

The coral was under the same lighting (but higher quality reflector) at the lfs.

Ray does keep a lower temperature and lower sg than me. I drip aclimated for about an hour. The coral came from a temp of 76 and sg of .023. my tank is 79 and .026. We have a very similar Ca/Kh/Mg.

BTW can you please explain your avatar? it cracks me up and I cant even see what it is.

I guess I shouldve phrased my question with "fair market value".
Sure, it's the cookie monster trying to eat the person holding the knife in defense. Have you seen the Shining? "HERE'S JOHNNY!" But instead, it's "HERE'S COOKIE MONSTER! NOM NOM NOM!"

It's funny in many ways

Here's a better pic.
