Ups sucks!

Ok so I ordered 2 things. One was 50lbs shipped from Minnesota on Thursday and via the$5.99 shipping fedex through drsfostersmith. It's here for delivery today.

Bought a 15lb box in cinncinatti shipped via ups and they show they picked it up on Wednesday night. It's still in cinncinatti and just now left the ups facility.

Just got off the phone with them explaining the comparison and of course the lady got snippy and rude an didn't care but then said that at the earliest it won't arrive to me until next Wednesday or thursday at the earliest lol.

needless to say I'm trying to get my shipping costs back.

I ship alot.

ups might have been the super saver, yeah give it a week.

When you place an order, make sure you know what shipping there are using.

SOrry to hear for the long await!

What's sad is it only cost $5.99 to ship the 50lb salt via fedex from Minnesota and $15 to ship the 15lb box from ohio via ups. Paid more and it was closer and it's
taking them a week longer to get it to me.

shipping costs=shipping and handling

Sad to say that places will over charge shipping rates to make up for lower prices.

Makes to think you are getting a nice deal.

It's a special that drsfostersmith is promoting to generate more sales. It's not $5.99, Drsfostersmith is just eating the extra cost.

You will learn in this hobby, if you need it sooner.... use next day, or 2nd day air.

Eh it's just my new rodi unit.

I just enjoy voicing things that aren't right. And as the title says UPS sucks.

Sometimes 2nd day air isn't any better I have a packge coming from ny picked up 11/6 and they estimate it won't be here until the 10th. That doesn't sound like 2 nd day to me. Monday the 9th sounds like 2 nd day.

ALL next day air & 2nd day air packages must be dropped off or picked up at or before a set time. ( I have no idea what time that is). But lets just say it's 3pm. If the package is not dropped off by 3pm than you will NOT get next or 2nd day air.

I'd contact who ever you ordered the package from and see what they have to say... But to blame UPS, FedEx or whoever for a shippers error is wrong.

I have to say FedEx sucks, I ordered two things from Foster&Smith (Wis) and one thing from MD (Cali), all on the same day..

The two packages from F&S, a 65 pound box (Salt) and a 4 pound box (Filter Pads), the 65 pound box got here 2 days after the order, and even tho the order was placed the same day it's going to take the 4 pound box 8 days to get here, the 45 pound box thats coming from (Cali) via ups will be here the day before the box coming from Wis and I live in michigan!

Explain that to me.... LOL

to also add, I ordered a sump from F&S shipped by FedEx and I got 3 broken sumps before the 4th came by fedex with F&S having to box the box with extra packing padding... so far Fedex is the worest shipper if you ask me!

My Live Aquaria box arrived this week via FedEx. It was clearly marked 'Fragile. This Side Up'. Of course FedEx placed the box on it's side instead. Grrr!

I got two other fish-related boxes this week via FedEx. They both arrived yesterday despite being ordered several days apart.

Detroitcrow. I now agree. My bucket of red sea coral pro came to me today with the bucket broke! Called drsfostersmith and they instantly gave me 10% of the charge back on my credit card. I thought that was nice of them.

I am not in the shipping business but do a lot od shipping myself, you just got to get used to the fact that most things will take a week unless you pay additionally for expidited 3 day shipping. Unfortunately the shippers need to make a buck therefore they need to be effiecient in there routing.

I ended up getting a total of $150 credit on file because of the sump issues, as well as 2nd day airing the other 2 sumps, so they took a HUGE loss to keep me as a customer! I couldn't be happier with F&S but Fedex can suck my ....tank! :P

Sorry to hear that...
Something I do now is... over the years I have a large collection of old salt buckets. I now just order the salt in the 200gal box and reuse the old salt buckets.

I use my Oceanic bucket for my salt, (I think the make the best buckets) and my old IO & RC buckets for emergency water storage. As far as the Sea Coral Pro... I found that red sea salt makes some of the cheapest buckets out there. I trashed them many years ago. I remember my one bucket of Red Sea Salt I ordered also came with the lid broke off. Good thing they put the salt in a plastic bag.
