Is this what I need??

I want to make sure that I am getting acurate results when I test my cupramine copper treatment. I really can't stand telling those colors apart. I want to make sure this unit will work for my intended purpose..

Will this unit work and be accurate for testing copper in my QT?

Not all copper tests will detect cupramine, and it is not always easy to tell. We even had a debate here between owners of Seachem ansd Salifert on whether the Salifert kit could detect it due to the way it is complexed. So I can't really answer, but think you may have to ask Seachem.

Thanks I posted on Seachems forum also. Seachem did tell me that Salifert will work with Cupramine.

Yes, they finally worked that out after a lot of debate on what Seachem's cupramine actually was without them actually saying.

I guess my question then would be if it is tested by a normal copper test kit (sailfert) why would there even be a possibility that the photometer will not work? Copper is copper right?

Cupramine complexes the copper, so one must have confidence that the dye in the kit in question is strong enough and fast enough to rip the copper free of the complexing amine.

Right, but if a reg Salifert kit can do it wouldnt that mean any kit can do it? Or is Salifert special???

Seachem says on their web site that it can be measured with "most" copper kits. I do not know if there are presently any available which do not.

So on a scale of 10...How confident would you be that the above mentioned colorimeter would work for my purpose on the cupramine?

Since it is not cheap, I'd say it is enough lower than 10 that I'd at least wait for Seachem to answer.
