Presentation:

OFFBEAT CORALS

This presentation discusses numerous corals that are available in the hobby, but are either not frequently available, or are otherwise overlooked by most aquarists.
Species covered include (but are not limited to): corals in the Psammocora, Cirrhipathes, Leptastrea, Australomussa, Stylaster, and Moseleya genera. The presentation covers selection criteria, abiotic water parameters, feeding, and other husbandry issues.

The PowerPoint presentation is content-and image-rich, includes references for the hobbyist, and will last about 50 minutes. Murray will be available during the conference to answer any questions.

Biography:

Murray W. Camp is a reef aquarist, speaker, and author with over seventeen years of experience in the hobby, with reef systems from 5 to 700 gallons. His articles have appeared in publications such as CORAL Magazine.

He is also the moderator of an expert forum on Probiotics and Labile Organic Carbon Dosing on the Marine Depot forums. He has presented at numerous reef conferences and events around the country, including MACNA XXIII, Long Island Reef Association, Chicagoland Marine Aquarium Society, Cleveland Saltwater Enthusiasts Association, Boston Reefers Society, Pacific Northwest Marine Aquarium Society, Puget Sound Aquarium Society, Texas Marine Aquarist Conference, Chesapeake Marine Aquarium Society, Dallas Marine Aquarium Society, and others.

He resides in Dallas, Texas with two kids, a Great Dane, and more marine invertebrates than he can accurately count, and he supports his reef obsession by practicing business trial law.

Awesome! I can't wait to learn about those corals. I've never heard of any of those, lol (I'm so ashamed to admit it, lol). And also need to learn more about the dosing stuff he will talk about because I'm getting more and more into hard corals. Great get Eric!

Christine Williams

Topic "Keeping Seahorses Successfully".

Bio: Christine Williams started keeping fish while she was still a fetus. While the aqueous environment did lend itself to the hobby, it limited her to freshwater species, and so she decided to be born several weeks early. Through sign language she demanded that her parents convert her crib into a reef aquarium and thus started her illustrious career in marine ornamentals. After completing her studies in biochemistry and molecular microbiology she went to work at “Animal ER” where unfortunately she was not filmed for the Animal Planet channel (though her feet did make a cameo during a rescue segment). Currently she is the head of the Mariponics Marine Research Laboratory for her division of a “very large international chemical company,” where she spends her days mixing chemicals, microorganisms and algae together and seeing if they will A) explode, B) glow in the dark, or C) make a good salsa. She has spent the last six years traveling and lecturing on reef topics including marine animal disease, fish husbandry, human-tank zoonosis, and fish cognition.
