My minimalistic 180g SPS tank

Hello!

So I have been here for a number years with a number of tanks well I've finally bought a house and have my permanent setup with a fish room in the basement right underneath that I have them plumbed together.

The main display is a 180 gallon system with minimal live rock.

Equipment I have a Sunpower 8x80w with 4 coral plus and 4 blue plus. Next time I change my bulbs I'm going to get 6 blue plus, 1 purple plus and a coral plus. I also have 2 reefbrites attached too.

I have a gyre 150 on each side
I also have a Jabeo RW-15 on each side too.

My return is a reeflo exterior.

My sump is a 75 gallon with a section for my skimmer, section for cheato and then just a bubble trap before the return.

I run a gfo, but very very small amount only 1 cup and I will probably disconnect it once the tank is more established.

I have a ton of SPS frags which right now I am just trying to grow to mini colonies before I buy any more.

My levels are alk 7.5-8.5
Calc 420-440
Phosphates are 0.00-0.05
Nitrate has been usually 0, once 5

All the photos are just shot with my IPhone so not the best quality

This tank is only been around three weeks old since I transferred everything during the move which I took some hits in my corals but they're slowly coming back.

tried to take some pictures this morning with a lee filter with just the 2 reefbrites on. I think these colors look as real as it will get being taken with an iphone 7 and not edited in the slightest. This is definitely my favorite time to look at the tank.

I really like the rainbow tenius in the last picture that is towards the back left. looks so much better in person as you can see the blue in the acro too.

Those frags are looking super healthy. Nice colour and base growth.

Thanks!

They were doing great in my old system which is the same tank, everything but then I moved it all to my new house and everything took a pretty big hit.

I wasnt getting an PE, but now I finally got the levels stable and everything is starting to get great PE again and getting the colors back so I greatly appreciate it. Especially from someone who has as good as a tank as yours.

Like others have said, I really love the rockwork and will be great to see everything grow out! Kind of makes me wonder about my current rockwork and wish I had made things a little more simple.

Really good start! I love that style of aquascape too, that's what I'll be doing if I ever end up with a large tank.

I saw you post on my thread about pics -- Honestly all you need for really great photos with an iphone are the reef gel filters. Like 2 years ago people would just get the 300 swatch sample stage light gel filters from LEE on eBay.. Now I think 2 or 3 different companies make them specifically for reef photography.

The iPhone 7 camera is no joke man, if I could have afforded the $700 iphone I wouldn't have had to buy a Cannon G7, Tripod, hack it for raw photo editing, then spend probably 10+ hours figuring out how to dial it in to look reasonably accurate in Photoshop.

Thank you!! I am hoping that since I have them settled in and have the levels as stable as can be that they will take off in the next month or 2.

I do have the LEE gel filters from ebay but I do not know which ones I have. I have like the 300 swatch sample ones, I do only have the Iphone 6s Plus but it still has a decent camera. I still cant get the best photos though, especially macros its about impossible.

What do you guys use for top down shots??

Had a good look at my tank this morning for the first time since I had the levels stable and had great PE on most of the corals which was great to see. I am going to try to take a picture of it tonight.
