Tank Background

Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up a new 75 gal system (to replace my old 75 gal system - incorporating lessons learned).

Seems that most people use paint for the background on the back glass. I've ordered a marine modular overflow and was just wondering when you paint the back glass do you leave a little paint off where the bulkheads are used to attach the overflow? Or, no paint at all behind the overflow (since it's black and I intend to use a black background)? Or, I'm just being anal, don't worry about it?

Thanks,
John

I have a black, internal overflow with two bulkheads coming out of the rear of the back glass. Before I painted the glass black, I temporarily installed the bulkheads and wrapped them with painters tape. Then I sprayed several coats on the back.

Turned out great. You want a really good seal between the bulkhead and the glass. I didn't want any paint under the bulkhead. Good luck.

And... you're not anal at all. I think about this stuff all the time!

Thanks, zeebies.

Never thought about installing the bulkheads before painting (DUH).

Cheap retired doc answer. Black 33g Hefty trash bag. Starts out looking uniform black. Coralline starts to grow. Little water here and there and it starts to look marbled. If you Don’t like. Throw it out
