Led to ati coral acclimation

Hello

As above says I've move from leds to full ati t5.

I was currently running a 300w Viraspectra LED unit running 40% blue and 1% white.

I am now running an Ati T5 6 x 39w unit at 12inch above tank but I don't want to bleach anything as the T5 seems to pax more of a punch or is there nothing to worry about?

Thanks

I would not worry but start out at 4 hours if you want and increase that over a week or 2 to 8 hours..
40% blue/1% white??.. No wonder you thought t5 was so white...

Yep. Seems to usually be the initial reaction most have when making the switch.

I agree. I wouldn’t worry too much. I saw zero negative effect when switching from black boxes to an ati sunpower. Started with a 6 hour total photoperiod. Increased gradually to 12

I swapped my 300watt LED for 6x39w t5 @ 6500k no coral issues. That said, since you only ran 1% white, keep a close eye on it for the first couple days and adjust height/time as needed.
Cheers! Mark

Not really.. Could it be closer.. probably/yes.. Does it need to be.. unlikely..

But you also didn't tell us the size of your tank in this post so we don't know if its 12" deep or 30",etc...

I run my ATI T5 about 8" off the water

12" is probably fine... could it be closer.. Yes..
As you are concerned about acclimation start at 12 now and move down lower in a few weeks/month and see how it goes..
Adapt..adjust as needed

These are brand new bulbs, what is meant by a burn in period?

Thanks.

So do you think it would be better to keep raised to the 12" and run between 4-6 hours why the bulbs burn in, and after the 50 hours start lowering them to around 8" above the water line and increase the lighting period to 8 hours?

What do you guys do, I have no experience with T5?

Thanks

Is your T5 dimmable? Burn in is only a thing for dimmable fixtures..

And sure that plan sounds fine..
You don't need "experience" with T5... Its just a light.. Don't over think it here..
Its far easier than LED.. Its either on.. Or its off.. 8-12 hours a day and corals grow..

Not not dimmable, but i read it can give out twice the par before the bulbs are burnt in?

How do you change your bulbs, all at once or staggered?

I change mine all at once..

I also have a dimmable ATI fixture and I don't burn them in.. I'm a rebel and run by my own rules..

If you have 5 blue plus and 1 coral plus where would you put the coral plus in the arrangement?

Not sure if I've made the right move switching over to full T5.
Colours seem to be paling out I'm now running the fixture for 5 hours day 8" over my tank. 5 blue+ and 1 purple + I'm just worried I've made a mistake.

You may have to lower your run time down 4 hours. The T5's will not give the "pop" that LEDs do, so to your eyes, the corals will look pale in comparison. You can do a quick test, and put your old lights up and take a look. You can also feed a little extra for a bit.

I run both LED and ATI T5 HOs. I run a pair of ATI Coral +, and 2 strips of 450nm blue, and one strip of 423/445/465/12k mix. Works very well.
