I mentioned earlier that I would be installing a frag tank and refugium (one above the other) against the wall opposite the display tank. I finally finished the stand that will hold the two tanks.

The legs are laminated from two milled (squared up) 2" X 4"s.

The platforms, or shelves, that the tanks sit on are made of milled 2" X 6"s, covered with 3/4" marine plywood. Once the wooden structure was completed I covered the outer surfaces with white Formica.

The 3 holes in each platform are for the overflow (2 each - 1 1/2") and returns (1").

I've left the underside of the platforms unpainted - I may change that.

There is the shelf unit placed in the fish room.

The legs are attached using epoxy glue and 1/2" stainless bolts. The fuge will be 75gals and the frag tank 50gals - so the total load will be somewhere between 1300 and 1600 pounds. Hope that glue holds.

OK - I'm gonna go out and take a look at my new rocks. I'll be back soon with some pictures ....

Hey, Elliot - thanks! Please do (post some pics or a vieo) - I, for one, would be very interested. The possiblities for varied flow using a VFD are amazing. I'll be on the look-out.

I'd love to see this as well.

Looking good Tom. I really like the new frag/fuge rack. Very professional looking and the formica will make for easy cleanup.

Tom.. Great looking frag and fuge rack!! I don't even think you need the glue with the 1/2" bolts.

By the way, you wouldn't have a older model stream that you could place beside your 6205 for a reference?

Also, IMO you should paint the bottom of the rack. Saltwater gets everywhere.

Mark mentioned it to me, also. I'm trying to find some locally.

No, sorry - I don't have the older model. For what it's worth, the 6205 is quite a bit smaller than the 6200-6201.

I think your right, I'll probably end up painting the shelf bottoms. Should'a done it from the get-go - would'a been a lot easier.

Tom , i just read the entire thread. You have a keen eye for high-quality building!! and you've automated everything.
then why aren't you using a profilux controller? I believe it is the only controller that can control the tunze pumps like the 7095 can.

When will the fish get some water to swim in?

Hi Rob - welcome to my thread. Thanks for the kind words. I was 10 seconds away from ordering a ProfiLux - then the stingy side of me took over. I can't really say I regret it - but ProfiLux sure makes cool stuff. Maybe next time.

There will be saltwater in the tank by the end of the week.

I GOT ROCKS!!

This is what the FedEx guy brought this morning:

It's a 150lbs of MarcoRocks from Marc at MarcoRocks.com. I must say I am VERY pleased with this rock. I ask for large pieces, an that's what I got!

Here are some cloe up to illustrate the interesting shapes:

Marc was very accommodating and accepted my specific wishes - no questions asked.

I took a trip to Lowes, this morning. I had them cut me a piece of cheap (relatively) plywood to the exact size of the display tank. I'll use it to lay out the rocks exactly the way I want them before actually placing them in the tank. To assemble the rocks together, I also bought a gallon of West System Epoxy and Filler.

Following an idea I've seen in a number of threads here on RC, I built some platforms for the rocks out of 3/8" acrylic sheet and 3/4" acrylic rods. The point of the platforms is to raise the rocks out of the 1" layer of sand I'll be using. This will, hopefully, assist in keeping detritus out of the tank.

So ... I'll continue with the aquascaping. I'll report back with pics as soon as I'm done. Then It'll be time to fill the tank with water.
