For those wondering...FragSwapper.com has been moved, but I was told last Friday that it could take a full week for all the records to transfer to the new "owner" of the site address. And by "owner" I only mean the company that renews the address registration...not the site itself...that's still all me.
Since I used my old hosting company to renew my name for me instead of me doing it myself (because it was cheaper) I now need GoDaddy.com (the new hosting company) to take ownership of the address and do the same thing. I've done all the leg work, now I just need to wait. Anyway..hopefully by this weekend it will go through and I can spend some time getting all the code and data running on the new server. Once it is, we'll get the swap up there. I will probably attend this one too, although it will only be for equipment since I still have an empty 8ft tank in my living room and 100 gallons of rock, water, crabs and some coral in a huge tub in my basement. ..unless I get my butt in gear and get the tank up soon, but I don't have the extra cash right now and the next thing I need to do is upgrade the electric in my house so I have a place to wire the beast. --Fizz

Plenty of time for fragswapper - my corals from spring still need to grow out.
And what do you mean your tank isn't up, you aren't distracted by something like, say, a baby or anything? |

I think most of my fish have died...I just didn't take care of them enough (only had 5). The few corals that survived the mini-crash are still alive and the inverts are still picking at things so I know I haven't lost everything. The rock was the main thing I wanted to keep..I have at least 200lbs in there (maybe 300). BTW..The site is up and running at: http://www.fizzicalenterprises.com/fragswapper/ ..But http://www.fragswapper.com/ is still running a redirect which means the addressing isn't updated yet. But if you want to look at the old swap to see who you got what from you can use it and all the history has made it over. --Fizz |

we are trying to get anthony calfo but its not confirmed yet.if he cant make it we have a few more excellent speakers in mind and i am sure one of them will be free for our swap.the memberships run for 1 year and two consecutive swaps so if you joined within a year you will be still an active member.we are currently working on a section of our web site www.ncpars.org that will list all the active members, but its under construction and not completed as of yet.

What do you usually bring to these things? To you have to bring your own frags to swap or can you just buy other peeps frags?

you dont need to bring anything except yourself.its just a informal gathering of coral reef enthusiasts.there will be tables set up with tanks and corals for sale or trade.there will be a seminar with a well known speaker, raffle prizes, free food and plenty of other goodies.some people bring frags to sell and others just come to buy corals.either way it is a way to learn and bond with others with similiar interests.

I felt the need to add: ....also bring a cooler and lots of cash! You'll want to bring something to keep the frags toasty and will be easy to carry. Some people sell frags in small bags (much smaller than your lfs), some in regular bags, some in disposable tupperware, and some (like me) in plastic containers you buy dirt cheap from the deli counter at the supermarket. I always bring a nice size cooler and tape some heat packs to the lid since it could be quite a long time before you get them in your tank. I should be coming to this swap, but I don't think I'll be ready to buy yet, although I'm looking for some good used equipment so who knows. I also may have some coral to sell since the rics and shrooms in my 100g fishless tub-o-rock seem to be doing quite well. --Fizz |
