Live rock taking forever to cure

I've had a piece of live rock that is about 10lbs in a bucket curing for about 6 weeks. I do 100% water changes every 2 weeks and siphon out all the debris and die-off. It still does not seem like it is cured. It still has the horrible die-off smell. Why is it taking so long? Is it because it's 10 lbs?

Yeah it has a heater. And just an air pump for flow.

agreed. air pumps don't create flow. You're basically letting the rock sit and die more.

gotta have a powerhead/pump and heater in there. the flow is necessary.

Air pumps provide plenty of flow for curing live rock. If you have a lot oif stuff to die off though, then it takes a while.
