200 gallon fish only skimmer mod or replace help

I have an 8" body swc/mxc 200 skimmer from WAY back in the day. Wondering what reliable pump I should use to feed it for my new 200 gallon fish only no LR. I figure I already have the skimmer body so why not. I also have an old 8" body external recirc. If my memory in this hobby serves me right, an 8" recirc can actually handle a greater bio load right? Plus thinking it would leave more space in the sump for chaeto and stuff

Depending on how the old pump attaches. Did the old pump use a needle wheel?

The pumps are needle wheel on both. The swc uses a since psk2500. I was going to replace it with an aquatrance 3000
