Long lost update
So here is a pic right before the you know what hit the fan. My calcium reactor was not working properly so I switched to dosing alkalinity and calcium with a couple brs dosers I had from my old tank. Then things started to look a little. Better but the clams were very unhappy. Zoom on the pic below and look at SPS tip death
I ended up figuring out my problem. I have my scrubber running which I haven't really paid attention to... And my gfo was running also.. So I was testing phosphates like 4 times a day and the numbers were almost always zero from the DT water. I turned the gfo off and have ramped up my feeding to almost 4 cubes of mysis/brine and flakes also. I tested phosphates after all that and the were .016. This surprises me and really makes me glad I figured it out. Otherwise my big clam would be probably gone by now. Here are some aftermath photos followed by good coral photos etc: This is my raspberry ice acro.. It really suffered and is still not on the mend FTS Blue stag

Yes it is a blue spot. I just took this one. It's hard to get a pic of him because he is jumpy AF.

Long needed update
I almost ended up breaking my tank down because lots of negative things were happening but instead decided to just simplify and sell basically every SPS I had, along with a lot of other corals, and completely redo the scape, light spectrum, pump locations, and clean all chambers of sump and overflow.
I also decided to turn my 7 gallon frag tank into a mangrove tank. With how low it recirculates I think it will be good for pods and I enjoy a close up on all the little critters that were on these rocks from my sump... it is actually crazy how many crazy looking creatures came from my sump rock. I have some feather dusters in there and I want to get some unique algae in there. Also I am feeding that tank phyto so it will grow lots of pods and slowly feed my tank over time.

Here are some pics of my display tank. There is only one rock in my display tank from my old scape. The idea now is to just let stuff grow in. I do want to add a frogspawn or two and maybe a leather but I'm not going to be actively searching for the best corals like I was. Although I do still have a piece of Walt Disney acropora :-)

Update
After a long time i finally have an update!
So, over the past couple months i have been pretty busy and slacked a little on the tank. It wasn't until my tank was covered in Dinoflagellatus that i decided to do something about it. i covered my tanks in towels and turned all my lights off, added carbon, gfo, and a bacteria supplement and after 4 days all of that brown bacteria growth is GONE! and it has been about a week and i dont have it coming back. My anemones went from long and stringy to bubble tipped and much more vibrant. ost of different LPS that was dying off is now looking much healthier! Who knew all it takes is 4 days of darkness to cure all that nasty algae! lol here is what it looked like before:

Very nice man. I am actually planning a tank with similar dimensions to yours. I am thinking 48x24x20. Do you have any regrets going with an 18" height? Im concerned it wont be tall enough. 24" seems too tall though, so i had settled at 20"
