Algae conundram
I have two tanks a Red Sea 130 and a hand built 44 inch both with a common sump, my 44 inch tank has a some gha on the glass and rocks lighting is Dsuny leds 60% white a few red and greens and 35% blue, whereas the Red Sea has red slime algae on the glass and sand with no gha on rocks or glass, lighting is 2 white and 2 blue actinic, so i'm surprised that both tanks don't have the same algae or can it be lighting, to me the 44inch has more white whereas the Red Sea is 50.50, would this affect gha growth with more white

Since both tanks are essentially the same lighting would be my assumption.

Different lighting/spectrums can most certainly cause differences in algae growth...

I agree that lighting can make a significant difference. There are some other possibilities, though. The sand or other surfaces might be leaching phosphate in one tank but not the other, for example.
